I swear!

I swear, the more I knit, the more my yarn stash pile grows.  For every yard of yarn I knit up, two more yards appear in my yarn crates.  Does that ever happen to you?  My goal used to be to use up all my yarn but at this rate, I will never, ever be able to reach my much smaller goal of just making a visible dent in the pile.

Maybe I should give up my goals, become a full-on hoarder and just go yarn shopping.

As usual, that photo has bad lighting and does not do justice to the yarn.  That middle hat and coordinating fingerless gloves just may be my all time favorite knitted item.  Okay, favorite set.

So, since the last post, I'm up to 18 slip stitch hats completed, 3 pairs of fingerless gloves have been knit and one way-too-stiff hair scrunchy has been crocheted.  The hair scrunchy was super simple to make but I definitely need either thinner yarn or a much larger crochet hook.

I love how different these two hats look despite being knit with the same two yarns.

Something super exciting has happened here in our household.  Sarah, my daughter, has become a crafter.  She's chosen crochet over knitting which I'm dealing with.  I keep reminding myself that at least this way, she won't be stealing my knitting needles.  Sarah already has a yarn storage box and a project bag!  She started off making pumpkin coasters, graduated to cup cozies and is now crocheting herself a granny square sweater.  I'm just so excited that we can mother/daughter craft together,... Although, it is going to make the Montpelier Fiber Festival a lot more expensive this fall.

This cozy looks Much better on my travel cup/bottle that it was designed for but said cup is in the dishwasher so a plain water bottle is modeling it.

Another exciting thing is this pegboard room divider.  I bought it to use at craft shows and the hinges fold in either direction so it can be bent in all kinds of ways.  I'm super excited about it and plan to buy all kinds of pegboard accessories to put on it.  Meanwhile, it's taking up space in my very, very messy closet.

Oh, and one more exciting event - Hayden became an auto mechanic.  I love her choice of attire.  What else would a well dressed female mechanic wear to work besides a pink tutu and cowboy boots?

I'm head over heals with the color of these fingerless gloves.  They are knit with City Tweed DK in Artichoke.  And I cannot hear the word "artichoke" without thinking of Stymie's famous line, "It might choke Artie but it ain't gonna choke Stymie!"

Anyway, I'm loving that unusual green.  And the tweed.  What is it about tweed that screams Autumn to me?

And, shhh.... Last year that pumpkin was full of cotton balls so no one has thought to look in it this year.  This year, it contains Tootsie Rolls.  Sometimes you just have to hide your pre-Halloween candy in plain sight.

And because it's been a while...

Hayden looks so big until she goes out and stands beside Paw-Paw's truck.  Her giant neon green ball is casting a witchy glow onto the hubcap.  Apparently Hayden is going to be a soccer player.  She loves to kick her ball all over the yard.  

So, my question for the day is, have any of you done TKGA's Master Knitter program?  I want to take/do the course/program but....  What I really want is to have already completed the program.  I can't quite bring myself to commit that much time and money into something YouTube and a heck of a lot of practice could provide me basically for free.  If you've completed the program, do you feel it was worth it?  What was your experience?  Did you complete the entire program or just a part of the whole?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

On and off the needles

My knitting has been all over the place lately.  The pinched nerve in my back is still pinched and I'm still taking massive quantities of extra strength Tylenol and the occasional muscle relaxer.  And, CBD gummies.  I'm not sure I want to admit that here, but they are legal and they were purchased at a real store and I'm over 18....  A friend suggested I try one because the massive quantities of Tylenol and muscle relaxers aren't solving the problem.  They help, but I still can't sleep or walk properly because of the cramping and spasming muscles.  Anyway, the CBD gummies actually help.  It may all be in my head but they do give me some relief.  Each gummy takes 20 minutes for me to feel and the sense of calm and relaxation lasts for about an hour.  The muscle relaxers simpley make me foggy headed for hours on end and only half-way help with the muscle spasms for about 30 minutes.  

Anyway, the result of all that is that I have another orthopedic appointment this afternoon and I can't seem to concentrate on any one project for more than a few minutes.

The lack of concentration has produced two F-bombs (poorly photographed as usual) instead of the planned 15 to 20.  I plan to list them in my Etsy shop and to sell them at Winterfest.  They seem so silly but everyone who sees one seems to want one, or more, to give as gifts.  Apparently lots of people have siblings and co-workers who would appreciate asocially acceptable way of dropping the F-bomb.

And two Christmas gnomes rather than the 20 or more I want to have on hand.  These guys are simple but extremely fiddly to knit.  I'm not 100% sure I'm going to ever make 20 of them.  But I did buy all the supplies so maybe when I'm not so foggy headed...

And I started a glove/mitten/fingerless glove during Sunday's football game.  I haven't decided what exactly it's going to be yet.  I'm also not sure if this will be for me or the shop.  I'm supposed to be concentrating on knitting for Winterfest but...  I really like this color.  It's an unusual green and I love anything tweedy.  "Tweedy" is a word, right??  The yarn is City Tweed  Artichoke, it's DK weight and should knit up relatively fast.  

Well, that glove would knit up fast if I only put down the cookies and picked up the knitting.  Again, it may be all in my head, but CBD gummies give me horrible junk food cravings.  At least I'm blaming the gummies and not the fact that I am Seriously sick and tired and totally over this pinched nerve nonsense.  I'm really not sure if it's CBD or pity party junk food cravings that I'm experiencing.

Anyone else out there tried CBD products?  What's your experience been?

 Oops!

Now, how on earth did I do that?  I used a row counter.  I used the same needles.  I knit them on consecutive days.

Oh, I know how I did that!  

Good grief!  

You know what I did?  I started off several repeats using the "0" on the row counter as a counted row.  Instead of telling the marker I was on row 1, I told it I was knitting row 0.  Doh!

Good thing I used a large skein.  I can simply recreate my error and knit a second pair of mismatched gloves that hopefully will match these.  Although it might be easier, simpliler and quicker to forget these and just start over.

If you are interested, the yarn is left over Colorburst I still had in the stash pile.

Three on Three - Fingerless Gloves

Remember me wanting to learn to walk and knit at the same time?  I thought I'd start out with some super simple fingerless gloves.  And because it's Thursday, here are three patterns I may try.

Simple Fingerless Gloves by Davina Choy

It doesn't get much simpler than those.  But because of the plainness of the design, the yarn will sing.  Whether I'm walking while I knit or laying in a hospital bed with two broken legs, I can't wait to knit several pair of these with a few different multicolored yarns that I have in the stash.

Half-finger Gloves by Snakefoot McGee

These half fingered gloves look pretty simple too, although it may shock you - I've never knit fingers before.  I can learn two things with this design!

Fadewalker Fingerless Mitts by Elizabeth Abate

And these, goodness!  These will be fantastic once I've gotten comfortable with walking and simple knitting.  And honestly, I love these so much, I may not wait until I can walk and knit to stitch myself a pair of these beauties.

Three on Thursday - Still only July?

Well, I'm still suffering from fall fever.  On top of wanting to wear jeans and flannel and sit around the fire pit sipping hot spiced tea, I'm also starting to crave candy corn.  I may not survive August at this point.

The fall fever may send me completely over the edge, but at least I can knit fall things while I wait for cooler weather.  Today's Three on Thursday is three mitten patterns.

Kindling Mitts by Helen Stewart

First of all, I love fingerless mitts.  Second of all, I Love cabled fingerless mitts.  And third, I LOVE the yarn used in that photo.  It just looks so soft and warm and I adore the tiny flecks of color.  These mitts are Kindling Mitts by Helen Stewart.  I've been on a Helen Stewart pattern kick lately.  I discovered her designs last month and Wow!  She's got so many wonderful designs.

Mittens Nomen by Dela Hausmann

I'm fascinated by how different the pattern in these Nomen mittens looks depending on the colors used.  I'm also obsessed with the color scheme on the left.  Oh, and this pattern is free on Ravelry.

Mittens that Never Forget by Elizabeth Lubowitz

I just love the elephants on these mittens.  Besides being adorable, they remind me of Hayden.  Her room is decorated with elephants.  I wonder if I knit a pair for her now, could I keep up with them until she was a teen and big enough to wear them?

What's next?

I finished the Out of Winter shawl, and I'm almost finished with the Newborn Vertebrae and my Eclipse shawl.  Actually, Eclipse, as written, should have two more pattern repeats but I want it more scarf sized so I'm going to leave them off.  Plus, by leaving off those two repeats, I'll have enough yarn left for baby sweater.  Win/win!

Anyway...

Now the problem of what to knit next?  Obviously there will be a baby thing.  But I have a massive case of fall fever and want to knit fingerless mitts.  Plus, I got a new cable needle that I'm dying to use so....

So today's Three on Thursday is three pair of fingerless mitts I'm trying to choose between.

Or Arden, another free design from Mikka?  These are worsted weight so they'd knit up faster.  Plus, I'd get to use my new snazzy cable needle.

Turning blue

Today's Three on Thursday post is all about blue.

Blue?  You'll see what I mean...

1.  Despite the fact I only bother to paint my nails three times a year, and despite the fact that on the rare occasion I do paint my nails, I never wear 'colors' and despite the fact that the bottle had apparently been opened (and used!) I bought a bottle of holographic, blue nail polish from Walmart and love it!

2.  The same day I bought the blue, holographic nail polish, I started knitting a pair of denim blue fingerless gloves.

3.  And the night before I started knitting the denim blue fingerless gloves, I started knitting a simple, hemmed brim hat with self striping blue yarn.

Pretending it's fall and my hands are cold.

The gloves were knit with Cascade Superwash Aran Splatter and the hat is being knit with Cherry Tree Hill's Broad Band Supersock Self-Striping yarn in the Moody Blues colorway.

Panic Mode

I've officially entered panic mode. 

It may be 30 degrees in the sun and it may have snowed this morning and we may still have the whole month of February to get through.... but summer is almost here.

I know summer is almost here because I got my 'it's time to get drug tested and background checked so you can go back to work' letter from the theme park where I've worked the past five summers.  I have a very strong love/hate relationship with that letter. 

One one hand, I love the job.  And by this point of not working all winter, I'm broke and could use the paycheck.  On the other hand, with the hours I work, I have absolutely no life outside of work from March through November.  And this year, the park is adding a Christmas/winter thing so the season will last through January.

I'm just not mentally ready to get dressed and leave the house every day instead of staying home to binge watch Netflix while I knit and read.

Anyway, I'm in panic mode.  I have an awful lot of things I need to/want to accomplish before the park takes over my life again.

Luckily, I'm able to check a few things off the list already.

Knit Picks Hawthorne in Poseidon

I finished knitting the fingerless gloves mentioned last week.  They are knit with Hawthorne from Knit Picks in the Poseidon colorway.  Hawthorne is probably one of my top five favorite yarns.  The colors are to die for, it has good stitch definition, it's affordable, it's washable, and did I mention the how gorgeous the colors are?  Anyway, Poseidon gloves are done.  I've even listed them on Ravelry.

Now, if I can just remember to get them in the mail....  (They're a gift.)

I also finished reading In a Cottage in a Wood by Cass Green.  I really, really enjoyed this book.  The epilogue chapter was a little weak, but the rest of the book had me holding my breathe and sitting on the edge of my seat.  And while I saw a lot of different endings coming, I would never have guessed it would turn out the way it did.

I also finished reading a Steve Jobs biography.  I realize I'm about five years behind everyone else on reading this one but....  I've wanted to read it since it came out but wasn't sure I'd enjoy it, or even actually read it.  I wasn't sure I, a total computer challenged individual, would enjoy reading about a computer nerd.  But recently, I found a copy at the local used book store that cost less than a gas station cup of coffee so I grabbed it.  And I'm glad I did.  This was another enjoyable and interesting read.

Makers' Monday

I can't believe it's Monday already.  Where did the weekend go?

This past Friday was sunny and it was... not warm but also not frigid and I was suffering from a massive case of spring fever.

Fingerless Glove

I drove over to the lake with my knitting bag riding shotgun.  I planned to spend a few hours enjoying the view and the sunshine from the interior of my car.  But as soon as I'd pulled out my knitting, I got the call that a relative was sick and needed help getting to the doctor's office.  I snapped a quick photo just to prove I'd been there and hit the highway.  And that was the end of knitting for the day.

I didn't get much knitting done Saturday either.  I intended to catch up on email and blog reading.  It is amazing how quickly I fell behind since Sarah began taking my computer with her to school three days a week.  We really, really need to do something about that situation.  But I digress.

About the time I hit the Gmail button on my computer, Mike announced that he was going to start eating healthier and that he thought we needed to cut our carb intake.  I mentioned that I'd been trying to eat nothing but lean meats and vegetables for the past several weeks.  He thought that sounded like a fine diet and suggested we go to the grocery store to stock up on fresh vegetables.  Seeing as though this was the first time in our 24+ years of marriage that we were in agreement about our diet, I quickly closed my computer and off we went.  So once again, not much knitting or email reading got done.

Another Hitchhiker

Sunday was a knit filled day however.  It was one of those glorious cold, rainy days where you just want to stay in your pajamas, snuggled up under a blanket and knit and read and drink hot tea all day days.  And so I did.  In my money-pants pajamas.  Don't judge.  As ridiculous as they look, they are ridiculously comfy.

But enough about me.  It's Makers' Monday.  Tell me all about what you're making.

Three on Thursday

I'm almost finished knitting my log cabin shawl.  I'm close enough to being done that I'm allowing myself to think about the next project.  And by 'next project,' I mean three things that I'm having trouble prioritizing.

decisions, decisions

1.  The first is an "ought to do next" project.  A simple pair of fingerless gloves knit with Knit Pick's Hawthorne in the Poseidon color way.  It's a simple, relatively quick to knit, knit in one of my favorite yarns and favorite colors project but....  I can't get excited about knitting them.  I think it's the need for dpns.  I'm just not in the mood.  But I would love to be knitting that Poseidon color so....

2.  A big, giant, beaded Pi shawl knit from Glazed Carrot Malabrigo lace weight wool.  This is the one I really, really want to knit but... A beaded Pi shawl?  First, when would I ever wear a giant, bright orange, beaded Pi shawl?  And second, am I crazy?  A beaded Pi shawl?  I probably won't live long enough to finish knitting it.  And third, I haven't found a Pi shawl pattern that screams 'Bead me!" 

In other words, I'm sort of hoping y'all will talk me down off the beaded Pi shawl ledge.  And yet.....

3.  Last, but not least, and certainly most needed, is a pair of socks.  But there's that whole dpn thing.  And please, don't mention Magic Looping them.  Magic Looping anything makes me want to poke my eyes out.  I constantly pull the wrong needle and loose all my stitches, plus for some reason, it bothers the old carpal tunnel.  But despite the current non-excitement over a dpn project, I really want to knit the socks. 

First, I desperately need more socks.  I haven't knit myself a pair in years (let's disregard the pair still awaiting Kitchenering.)  And since I tend to walk down the driveway in my sock feet to get the mail.... I tend to wear out my socks fairly quickly.

 Second, my daughter picked out the yarn.  It's Patons Kroy Socks in the Bramble Stripes colorway.  Every time we go to the big box craft store, (which seems to be weekly - that apple didn't fall far from the tree!)  and I take a spin down the yarn aisle, Sarah picks up this colorway and says she likes it.  And I'm always surprised because it's green and brown and white and looks like it may turn out to be sort camouflage-ish.  But Sarah is determined it's very Slytherin.  So the last time we were at the big box craft store, the yarn happened to be on sale so I bought some.  Except they only had two skeins left and .... You guessed it - they are different dye lots.  Same yarn, but very visually different.  According to Sarah, the second skein is very Hulk-ish and she thinks Slytherin vs the Hulk would be pretty cool.

And Third (it is Three on Thursday!) I'm pretty curious to see how different the two skeins knit up.  So, mismatched socks it is.  Or at least, it will be.  Eventually.

I'm knitting simple, fingerless gloves with some left over yarn I had.  I'm also praying I  have enough yarn.

I've also been reading Scarred by Joanne Macgregor.  I just finished it last night and absolutely loved it.  The book's Amazon description describes it as a young adult contemporary romance but I felt it was so much more than that.  While it did have the typical boy & girl are made for each other but have some silly issue keeping them apart romance theme, there was so much more to this story.  There was also misplaced guilt and forgiveness, self esteem issues, bullying, and school violence.  Wow.  I'm not making it sound like a great read, but it really was.  I had hard time putting it down and even skipped an after work visit to the local all night dinner with work friends to come home and read.  You Know I enjoyed it if I passed up food for it!

Makers' Monday - Bridal Gloves

Welcome to Makers' Monday, a celebration of knitting designers, artists and creatives.

In keeping with the wedding theme, I thought I'd share a few patterns for lacy bridal gloves. Now don't get me wrong, all of these gloves could be worn anytime or place, but knit with white yarn, they scream wedding.

This first pair are actually crocheted. As much as I dislike crocheting (mostly because crochet gives me Horrible carpal tunnel issues not to mention, I'm rather talentless) these were just too pretty not to include.  So, for the folks who can crochet.... The Fingerless Crochet Lacy Wedding Gloves were designed by Nez Jewelry and can be found on Ravelry.

Just look at the detail!  Another thing I really like about this design from Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer of Heartstrings Fiber Arts is that its Ravelry page offers a free link to the pattern's front page.  You are able to see gauge, needle & yarn requirements/recommendations before purchasing the pattern.  That's sweet!

Or perhaps your wedding is next weekend and you need something a little quicker to knit...

 How about these Lacy Hearts Wedding Gloves from Ellen Rich of Knitters' Haven?  These would be super cute for Valentines Day as well as for a wedding.

And last but not least, how about this beaded design?  Not only is the pattern for these Eryn Lasgalen Glovelettes free, but the pattern's Ravelry page shows them knit up in several different colors. I just love how different the glovelettes look in different colors.  The red ones are edgy & remind me of my punk rock days, while the blue are delicate & of course, the white scream wedding.  Oops. I got so caught up remembering my punk rock youth, I almost forgot to mention the designer.  Eryn Lasgalen Glovelettes by Marie Hytti of Cozy Cabin Designs.

And I have to mention.... The whole time I've been typing this, I keep picturing the lacy hearts on socks. You know those brides on TV shows who wear their fancy wedding gown with their grubby Converse sneakers? Well, I've never seen a bride do that in real life, but if I ever do, I'm going to knit them lacy heart socks to wear with their Converse.

Fingerless Mitts

Like magic, it turned into a pair of fingerless mitts. 

The yarn is Tracks Sport from The Buffalo Wool Co.  I received it in my November socks kit from KnitCrate.  The yarn is a merino & bison blend.  Right off the skein, it was a little stringy and had a slightly stiff cottony feel to it but after blocking, it softened right up.  It softened up enough that there's no longer a question about whether they are destined to be mine or my shop's.  They are definitely mine now.

Do you notice anything odd about the cabling?  They are worked from the fingertips downward and I was binge watching Vikings while I knit the first mitt.  Apparently I was paying more attention to Ragnar than the number of rows I was knitting.  The cables got further and further apart as I knit.  Ooops.  But no worries!  I just did the same thing on the second mitt and am calling it a design element.  I actually kind of like it.

So, this Tracks yarn from The Buffalo Wool Company that came in my November shipment from KNITCRATE is glorious!

I decided to knit faux cabled fingerless gloves with the yarn instead of socks.  I really like the sock pattern that came with November's shipment and I plan to knit it someday but just not with this yarn.  This yarn is just too good to be hidden under shoes and pant legs.  This yarn is just heavenly to knit with.  It's not the least bit splitty and it has excellent stitch definition. It's also knitting up very quickly. I may have a new pair of gloves to wear to my Knitting Group Monday night.

July in review

Wow.  I can't believe today is July 31st.  Where has the month/summer gone??

Between work and the weather, July was definitely a month of non-accomplishments.

Modified Reyna

I finished a modified Reyna shawl but it's still laying in a heap on the corner of my desk waiting to be blocked.  And if I'm honest, it's also waiting to have it's loose ends woven in.

I started another pair of Outlander inspired gloves but I haven't taken a single photo of them, nor knit a single stitch on them since the first week of July.

Great White

I did start and finish the Great White Thing.  I haven't photographed the final 'thing' yet because it's been too humid.  It's so humid that the interior of our house is dark and dreary like a super rainy day and the outside is just too damp.  I tried, for all of five minutes, to take outdoor photos recently but due to the heat and humidity, my sweat was dripping on the camera lens.  Eew!  One day soon I'll get photos taken and I'll also get Great White put into the mail (it's a gift) then I can give you some details.

Twisted

I've started Twisted three times.  Hopefully, as they say, the third time's the charm.  It started out on Knit Pick's Options needles but look how close the yarn color is to the needle color.  Even though Twisted is all stockinette, I couldn't deal with the lack of contrast between yarn & needle.  I also realized that, although I'd done a gauge swatch (for once!) I wasn't getting close to gauge.  I frogged it and started over on larger needles.  Four inches of re-knit Twisted and....  Yep, you guessed it.  Still not getting gauge.  I had to go up 4 needle sizes from the needles I'd swatched with.  This is why I rarely bother with swatching.  

Anyway, Twisted is back on track and I'm five or six inches into it.  But still no photos.  Have I mentioned the heat and humidity and sweat on the camera lens issues?

Giving Thanks, Day 25

Today, I am giddy with thankfulness that tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  I can not wait!  I'm so excited for the excuse to over eat.  I LOVE turkey but for some reason, I never cook turkey so the holidays are about the only time I get turkey.  And it goes without saying, I love pie.  And I love my daughter's pumpkin spice cake roll and my sister's macaroni & cheese, and my niece usually bakes some kind of yummy desert... And then there's how much I love annoying my family by making them listen to Alice's Restaurant on repeat.

But besides the food and awesome song lyrics, I'm also thankful for Thanksgiving because the next day means Christmas!  I get just a tiny bit excited about Christmas.  I'm like a two year old waiting for Santa.  I don't go overboard with decorating or shopping, in fact I'm fairly low key with both decorating and shopping.  But you can bet, I'll be happily setting that dreaded alarm clock Friday morning so I can get up nice and early to turn on the Christmas tunes, put the candles in the windows & plop myself in front of the Holiday Movie channel with a candy cane and begin the Christmas knitting frenzy.  I can not wait!

Meanwhile, today I'll keep myself busy with accidently dropping pies on the floor and finishing up the blue striped hat

OTN 11/25/15

and the second faux cabled fingerless glove to match the hat I listed for sale yesterday.  Sadly, I didn't even get the second glove cast on last night.  I'd planned to finish it but never even started it.  Although it doesn't have the nice ring to it that Second Sock Syndrome has, I think Second Glove Syndrome has set in.  I've got to do something about that though because come Friday, it's Christmas Frenzy Knitting time.

Well, it looks like I have a busy day cut out for me.  I have pies to burn, a hat and a glove to knit and I must go que up Alice's Restaurant.  Sing it with me now,

"This song is called "Alice's Restaurant."  It's about Alice, and the restaurant, but "Alice's Restaurant" is not the name of the restaurant, that's just the name of the song.  That's why I call the song...."

Gosh!  I'm on Day 24 & I haven't missed a single day yet.  That alone is something to be thankful for.  Maybe not for you, because really, besides me, who cares what I'm thankful for?  Probably no one.  Oh well, get over it.

So, besides being thankful that I've made it to Day 24 without missing a beat, what am I thankful for today?  Besides the fact that there's only another week of this thankful nonsense to go I mean, because that is something to be thankful for!  Anyway... what am I thankful for  today?  Well, it may be well past noon as I write this, but noon is still "early morning" to me.  I'm still on the 'sleep all morning, work all night' sleep schedule.  I can't seem to break it.  I may have to resort to setting the dreaded alarm clock.  Yikes!

Okay, refocus.....

Today... what am I thankful for?  Besides large doses of coffee?  Once again, I'm thankful for my daughter.  She may have gotten home from school (in my car) so late yesterday that I missed knitting group, but she did take it upon herself to hit grocery store after grocery store until she found pecans.  I have pecans now!  Thanksgiving has been saved and I'm oh, so thankful for my daughter's thoughtfulness and diligence.  And she doesn't even like pecan pie all that much!  Thanks, Sarah!

Faux Cabled Slouchy Hat

I finished another faux cabled hat.  The color is just gorgeous.  It's not really blue and it's not really green.  The yarn manufacturer calls it Fjord.  Which is actually a perfect name for it.  It's the exact color of the water in this picture of a fjord.

In case you're wondering, the definition of a fjord is "a long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs, as in Norway and Iceland."  The shirtless guy in the photo is just an added bonus of 
stealing pictures from Google Images.  

Faux Cabled Fingerless Gloves

Currently, I'm knitting a pair of fingerless gloves to match the hat.  I didn't get much knitting done last night.  There was a lot of drama going on in my geared-towards-teens,-Netflix-soap-opera that forced me to do a lot more mindless cookie eating than knitting.  Hopefully tonight's knitting time will be more productive.

Giving Thanks for Friendship

Today, and every day, I'm thankful for my wonderful friends.  My crazy friends, my almost normal friends, my co-worker friends, the friends I see daily and the friends I only see once every 16 years, my knitting friends and my non-knitting friends.  Where would I be without you?  I don't even want to think about that!  I love you all!

But before this gets too mushy and you begin to wonder where the sarcasm has gone...

Two-toned fingerless gloves

Okay, so that's for one (or maybe 3 or 4) particular friend(s).

Anyway....  I love you all and am blessed to call each & every one of you a friend.

And, in case you were wondering, I finished the two-toned, faux cabled fingerless mitts.  They won't be showing up in my Etsy shop because the thumb hole on one is a row higher than the other.  Oops.  Not a big enough oops to bother fixing, but too big of an oops to sell.

So yeah, some lucky friend will be getting miss-matched, two-toned fingerless gloves for Christmas.  Aren't you glad we're friends?

Fingerless Gloves

In an effort to use up a little of yarn I have left over from all the recent hat projects, I'm knitting a pair of two toned fingerless gloves.  The yarn is Patons Classic Wool and I'm knitting a mock cable pattern.  I love mock cable patterns.  Well, I love cable patterns in general, but I hate having to keep up with the cable needle.  You'd think keeping up with the needle would be easy considering 99% of the time, I'm parked in front of my computer & Netflix but.....
