On the needles - Kate's mittens

One mitten down.

#todayontheneedles

One more to go.  It looks freakishly long, but it's not.  The mittens are being knit for a friend with hands a quarter inch shorter than mine and these fit me fine, except that they are just a tad snug in length.  I'm chalking the weird visual up to being because Kate and I are both so long and lean.

I think it's also appropriate to mention that I knit that mitten while watching North & South on Netflix.  You see, she may be my friend, but Kate is a Civil War re-enactor.  And a dammed Yankee!  I, on the other hand, was taught the words to Dixie in preschool.

And now that I'm singing "...wish I was in the land of cotton..." I'm off to knit mitten number two.  And maybe sing Henry the VIII, I Am instead.

  1. Wow! It looks great and it's not even September! I will, of course, have to fumigate these to rid them of their accursed Rebel tendencies. And I, too, learned the words to "Dixie" in elementary school. And I know some other great Civil War songs, including "The Bonnie Blue Flag."
